CHINLE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

Project Scope and deliverables, include number of resources engaged in project, timeline of project (major milestones)

Project scope was to re-direct a 150’ section of 4” underground pathway and replace the entire 700’ of single mode fiber with minimal disruption to the Security and Transportation facilities. Our Underground Boring partner installed the new pathway 3 weeks in advance of the actual start date. Both companies with two crews from each were on site to cut the new path in, set new hand doles and replace the fiber. All work started Thursday after school and the buses returned for the day, the facilities were back up and operational the next afternoon.

Due to the remote environment and limited time only experienced fiber technicians, equipment operators and OSP Technicians were engaged for the final cut-over. Double the fiber equipment and a backhoe were also on site to make sure the District had connectivity by Monday Morning.

Installation of 411 wireless access points district wide. Scope included all cabling and device deployment starting at both of the High Schools and having them both completed and operational in time for the early April AIM’s testing. Project required engaging two project managers and three technical crews to work after hours and weekends as required. Each Project manager was specifically tasked for the build out of the cabling infrastructure and the active device deployment and documentation. The Project Managers and technical crews overlapped at each site and communicated any deviations or difficulties experienced.

This project utilized very experienced and dedicated technicians. Project management and accurate device documentation throughout the project made the project close and deliverables very straight forward and easy to understand. The funding source for this project put the procurement of materials and engagement of manpower behind schedule. The dedication and support provided by the Higley Unified IT department, facilities, and custodial crews made this project a success.
